My first set of trials for my first two Ribbon Masters
After watching a video by a Youtuber who did a challenge to see how many ribbons you can get on one Pokemon, I decided to blow all of my money(j/k) on old game consoles and handhelds to see if I could do the same thing. Well, not actually, some of the challenges were too tough for my feeble brain and patience(I'm not getting any younger) but I did want to have a Pokemon with a ton of ribbons travel to Pokemon Shield when I got the Sword/Shield double pack(with free Max Raid crystals to get dragon type Pokemon for only $120!!!!) so I came up with a few guys to do the quest.
Since I found out that Butterfree has a Gigantamax form, I had to bring the one from Orre to Galar, so here's my first update on that! Please forgive picture quality, I took photos of these on my PS Vita and the daylight ruined the photos, so I apologize in advance.
Here is Luminary(named after the main hero's title in Dragon Quest XI).
I snagged the Shadow Butterfree in XD's Cipher Lair from Peon Targ. I had another memory card with one but it was Modest Nature and I needed a Timid Butterfree to be able to max out its Cute contest stat for Emerald. Unlike Johnstone, I wasn't going to get all of the contest ribbons on one Pokemon, I wanted to have one Ribbon Master which specialized in each of the stats, and this would be my Cute Contest Ribbon Holder.
I had a Mawile from my older XD file(I bought two memory cards, the first would be a revolving door of replays to get better snags and extra TMs since TMs are consumable in this generation) and put it in a party with Luminary for the 100-Trainer Mt. Battle gauntlet. I didn't have them fight - I used two Shadow Pokemon with Shadow Storm to purify them a bit and then had them swapped with Emerald's Rayquaza and a Groudon from Ruby, both got to Level 100 before I started this challenge so they swept everything and both had Protect on their movesets to protect against 89 and 99's annoying spamming of Explosion. X(
But I finished the challenge and got Chikorita, my favorite Johto Starter. Since I am going to choose Totodile for my VC Pokemon Crystal challenge and get Treecko from Alpha Sapphire post-game, I didn't need to do this challenge more than once, but did so for my three later Ribbon Masters.
Not on this file though, I slaughtered most of the Shadow Pokemon and had to wait for Miror B to catch them so I could kick his heinie and get them back. Took forever to do, never again. Even if it means having to grind on Mt. Battle to get Shadow Paras up to Level 100 so it won't die in one hit from Shadow Moves(it's frail), I am going to Snag the next set of Shadow Pokemon on first meet.
But eventually, my Groudon and Rayquaza just tore through everything and my two Ribbon kids got their ribbons even though they never got into battle once. :p
With Luminary getting the two two ribbons, it was time to travel to old Hoenn with those two.
I was hoping to get another ribbon first but unfortunately Pikeru(my Emerald avatar) was dirt poor so I had to amulet coin through the Elite 4... and spent the money on Calciums for MoneyMaker, a wild Jigglypuff I evolved immediately and sent back to Mt. Battle to grind up to Level 100. I had a spare Thunderbolt and Psychic TM I used on my Wigglytuff and earned enough coupons to get Flamethrower and Ice Beam. This was my inferior Rayquaza set but it would be strong enough at Level 100 to grind the Elite 4 so I could get enough vitamins to cut down on the EV training for Luminary and YuyaSakaki(my Mawile). So I just plopped these two in with the XD Duskull so Emerald could evolve it and get it on the Pokedex.
More to come soon. ;)
